About the lists we use

I have used many list companies over the years and have found one to be superior to the others. I have continued to use that company for many years.  I find that their data is more accurate than the other companies. They do a good job of verifying the information every 18 months.  That’s not to say it is perfect. There is no perfect list. However, if you encounter situations where the person is retired or has died, that typically happened in the last 18 months, not 10 years ago.

Who are the people on these lists?

They are people who have a life insurance license (life insurance professionals) or a license to sell securities (financial advisors).

Our target is life insurance professionals and financial advisors who need to market themselves and get their own clients. They work for companies in the United States. However, occasionally, you will encounter somebody who answers the call in a foreign language. We don’t really understand how this happens because these people live in the United States and do business with US companies in English. Just end the call and move on to the next call.

These people are in two groups:

Group#1

Captive producers: these are professionals who work for big firms like Prudential or New York Life or Merrill Lynch.  Even though these people work for a big firm, they must find their own clients.  Even though you would think that somebody with Prudential only sells Prudential products, that’s not the way it works. Even these captive producers sell products offered by many different companies.

Group#2

Independent producers: these professionals work on their own and they’re not affiliated with one significant company.

Once I download the list, I go through several ways to clean it:

  1. I remove people that appear to be focused on selling health insurance as we do not provide leads for health insurance
  2. I remove people over the age of 68 (the list does not contain the birthdate for everybody on the list)
  3. I remove people who appear to sell group insurance. For example, they call on companies to sell them benefits for all their employees. The financial professionals we target sell products and services to individuals like you and me, not to companies.
  4. I remove people that work for banks.
  5. I remove people who are with companies where it is less likely the financial professional will register for our service (e.g. State Farm, Allstate, JP Morgan, etc)

Even after I go through all the steps, it is likely that 10% of the people in the dialer, are not suitable. Why? Because the information we have is not perfect. The list we get does not have information such as, does the person actually sell life insurance in the field to individuals, or if the person has a life insurance license but actually works inside the company in an administrative job.  Or if the person sells life insurance but their main job is actually working at a funeral home. There is no list that contains that information.

Additionally, things change. For example, we have done loads of business over the years with financial advisors who work at Edward Jones.   However, they apparently changed their phone system a while back so that the calls go into a central center and it becomes difficult to reach the individual financial advisors. Yet, in the last month, we registered a couple of people working at Edward Jones so it now appears they can be reached more easily.  We have no way to keep up  or know the ways that over 2000 of these financial services companies route their calls.

So again, be prepared that 10% of the people on the call list are not a fit, and simply end the call and let the dialer move on to the next person.

Bottom line

We do everything possible to make sure that the contacts in the dialer are productive for you and will not waste your time. Our goal is to have you make the most productive use of your time. However, please realize that there is no perfect information. Information is often missing and thus it is not possible to make the call list 100% perfect. You will still encounter people who may focus on selling health insurance or people who sell benefits to companies or somebody who works at a bank (which should become obvious in the first 30 seconds and you simply end the call and go to the next person in the dialer). Hopefully, I have been able to eliminate most of these so that the call list doesn’t contain more than 10% of these people.
